March is here. When UC campuses will release their decisions, and a note about the Cal Regents' Scholarship

It's March and this is when you will hear about your UC admission decisions. So take a deep breath, relax and get those video cameras ready for your reaction shots.

First off, please make sure and confirm that you are plugged into each of your My Application portals for each UC you applied to-- user name, application number and password checked. They will notify you through this portal.

UC Berkeley – Last year came out on March 24 at about 5:00pm. [Last year, it was originally posted that the UC Berkeley decisions will be up at 12 noon, but because of the enormous site traffic, it was all cleared to check at 5:00 pm.]  This year: March 29, 2012.  [Confirmed]

UC Davis – Last year decisions came out on March 23rd. This year: March 16, 2012. [Confirmed]

UC Irvine – Last year came out February 1st then trickled in with all final decisions released online on March 23rd. This year: Have been release since Feb 1st but will continue till end of March.

UC Merced – Acceptances have already been released and will continue through March. [Confirmed]

UC Santa Barbara – Last year, all decisions came out on Monday, March 21 at 4 p.m. This year: March 19, 2012.  [Confirmed}

UC Santa Cruz – Last year, UCSC decisions came out on March 15th. This year: March 15, 2012. [Confirmed]

They release them later on in the afternoon so kids won't check during school and disrupt class by checking. If you do receive a decision, please feel free to post here to update us.

A note about the Regents' Scholarship at Berkeley - If you received an invitation to interview for the Regents' Scholarship at UC Berkeley and you interviewed, most likely you are accepted whether or not you are chosen for the scholarship. Wishing the best to all!

Remember to get your FAFSA application in by March 2nd

Just a reminder:

Remember to fill out, apply and send your FAFSA application in by this Friday, March 2nd if you want to receive financial aid. Even if you feel you will not qualify for financial aid, it is best to apply anyway. UCs will base their financial aid package on your FAFSA.

To apply and for more information, click here: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/index.htm

Also, to qualify for Cal Grants (i.e. free money), you must also submit your GPAVerification form by March 2nd. Go to your high school counseling office, request a GPAVerification form, have it signed and verified, and mail it to the California Student Aid Commission office post-marked by March 2nd. Again, even if you feel you will not qualify, it won't hurt to apply.  If you do, it is free money you do not have to pay back. What's not to loose?

To get the GPA Verification form online, click here: http://www.csac.ca.gov/pubs/forms/grnt_frm/gpaform.pdf

For more information on Cal Grants, click here: http://www.csac.ca.gov/doc.asp?id=1177

Note that you must file a FAFSA if you are filing a Cal Grant Aid.

UC acceptances will come out next month. Keep reading SF Mom3 blogs for predicable dates each UC campus will release their acceptances. Let's hope to hear good news!
